Our new courtyard garden helps win a double first

This year we have been busy creating a new courtyard garden at the back of the ballroom – formerly the old service area to the kitchens.  Leading to the Victorian walled garden and the front park where our rare-breed sheep roam, this space comprises extensive seating, a bar, an inside/outside room, BBQ area and cloakroom facilities.  It is the perfect suntrap in the evening and has provided a fabulous area for outdoor entertaining.

The creation of the garden and the building of a new greenhouse from re-salvaged materials impressed the judging panel at the recent Britain in Bloom competition where Swinfen Hall won a Gold award for the second year running.  We were thrilled for Scott Gardner, our Head Groundsman and his team – Stuart, Chris and Miles who worked so hard to get these projects finished on time alongside keeping the gardens and grounds looking tip-top.

We were also delighted that Lichfield won Gold in the City in Bloom competition and were very happy to host the judges at the start of their whistle stop tour of the city’s glorious parks and gardens,  Many congratulations to the committee whose tireless efforts have ensured that Lichfield has looked its best throughout this long, hot Summer.
